The Secret to Fat Loss...

Do you want to know the secret to losing weight and getting lean?

The secret is…

That there is NO secret, and if someone tells you that the secret is “this diet, this pill, this shake, this cleanse, this workout program,” then they are lying to you and do NOT have your best interests in mind.

The truth is, there is no secret to losing weight or getting lean. The key to fat loss is CONSISTENCY. If you cannot sustain a diet (way of eating) for the long haul, then you shouldn’t be doing it. This is why so many diets fail.

Yes, there are times for specific dietary (i.e. elimination diets for a specific health concern, sports that require meeting weight, etc.), but if you are looking to achieve long-term fat loss, then a restrictive diet or program is not going to KEEP you there. It might GET you there, but who wants to achieve these great results only to lose them in 3-6 months?

That is why when I work with a client I will RARELY recommend any type of restrictive diet, because my clients deserve better.

Here are some consistent habits that you can start implementing NOW that will pay off in the long-run:

  • Stop following a restrictive diet. Plain and simple. Feed your body the nourishment it needs so that your metabolism can function efficiently. Stop the 1200 calorie bullshit (sorry grandma if you are reading this 😉

  • Consume protein at every meal and snack. Don’t skip it.

  • Try to eat a nourishing meal or snack every 3-5 hours. This will ensure that your blood sugar is stable, which helps with energy dips, cravings, sleep, and binging.

  • Drink more water. Try to get at least 1/2 of your body weight in ounces per day.

  • Watch the sugar intake. Try to satisfy those sugar cravings with dark chocolate, lightly sweetened greek yogurt, homemade smoothie, or fruit.

IF YOU WANT YOUR BODY COMPOSITION RESULTS TO BE LONG-TERM, THE KEY IS CONSISTENCY, NOT A RESTRICTIVE, SHORT-TERM DIET, CLEANSE, OR SHAKE. PERIOD.

And if you have been following me for any length of time, then you know that I find that most women are not eating ENOUGH in order to successfully reach their desired body composition, so the further restriction is only going to make achieving that goal even harder!

Have you tried a restrictive diet before? What was your experience? I would love to hear in the comments below!
